(Southaven, MS) - The Mississippi RiverKings and the Central Hockey League announced today that the recipient for the Oakley CHL Player of the Week for the period ending January 25th, 2009 is forward Bobby Chaumont of the Mississippi RiverKings.

This is Chaumont's first weekly honor, but it's the third time a member of the RiverKings has earned the league's player of the week award. The other RiverKings selections were Brad Bonello (since departed from the team) on November 10th and Jeff Nelson on January 12th.

Chaumont was also named the CHL's Three-Star Award winner for the month of November, after earning four number one stars in games played that month.

Bobby also represented the RiverKings in the recent CHL All-Star Game, earning an assist and took five shots on net in the All-Stars' 8-4 loss to the Colorado Eagles at Loveland, Colorado on January 14th.

Last weekend, Chaumont, a native of Sudbury, Ontario, scored two goals and added four assists for six points in two RiverKings' victories.

Chaumont scored the first Mississippi goal and added two helpers in a 4-3 victory over Rio Grande Valley on Friday night, January 23rd. His second assist of the night came on the game-winning goal eleven minutes into the second period.

The next night, Saturday, January 24th, Chaumont scored the RiverKings' second goal of the game and provided two assists in the team's 5-3 victory over the Laredo Bucks.

For the season, Chaumont leads the RiverKings in goals (22) and power play goals (9). He is third in the overall CHL Three-Star rankings with 41 points.

In addition to the three CHL Players of the Week, Mississippi's Kevin Beech has won the Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week award on two separate occasions this season.

In recognition of his achievement, Chaumont will receive a special gift from Oakley.

Two home games await the Mississippi RiverKings this week, including tomorrow's "Face Off Field Trip," when DeSoto County and Shelby County youngsters pack the DeSoto Civic Center to watch the RiverKings tangle with the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs at 10:05 AM, presented by Sycamore Bank (Member FDIC). Saturday night, RiverKings fans will attempt to set a world record for the world's largest mass duck call, while the RiverKings tangle with the Rapid City Rush at 7:05 PM, presented by Knight & Hale Game Calls, Advanced Safe & Lock Co., and Miller Lite.
