Bluefish Shut Out Patriots 5-0

Bridgewater, NJ - The Bridgeport Bluefish defeated the Somerset Patriots 5-0 before 7,639 fans at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday evening.

The Bluefish took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning. Left fielder Tike Redman singled and later scored on an RBI single by third baseman Luis Lopez.

Bridgeport made it 2-0 with a run in the top of the third inning. Redman singled, stole second, and scored on an RBI fielder's choice by Lopez.

The Bluefish extended the lead with a run in the top of the fourth inning. Right fielder Danny Putnam singled and scored on an RBI single by center fielder Adam Greenberg to make the score 3-0.

Bridgeport added a run in the top of the fifth inning. Putnam doubled and later came around to score on an RBI single by catcher Luis Rodriguez for a 4-0 advantage.

The Bluefish scored a run in the top of the seventh inning on two errors that made the score 5-0.

Bluefish starter Luis Gonzalez (9-4) picked up the win with five scoreless innings pitched and eight strikeouts. Patriots starter Brian Adams (4-4) suffered the loss, allowing four runs on five hits and eight strikeouts in six innings pitched.

The Somerset Patriots 2010 Season presented by Ford will continue with the final regular season home game on Sunday with a 1:35 pm game against the Bridgeport Bluefish. The game includes Exercise Stress Balls and Grandparents Day presented by Arbor Glen.
