BlueClaws Top Brooklyn 7-4 for Fifth Straight Win

JERSEY SHORE, NJ - Wilfredo Flores had three hits and the BlueClaws drew 10 walks in topping Brooklyn 7-4 on Tuesday night for their fifth straight win.

Jersey Shore improved to 7-8 after a 2-8 start to the season and earned their first five-game win streak since August of 2021. Brooklyn fell to 5-10 on the year.

Flores, who went 3-4, has an eight game hitting streak over which he is now 15-32.

The BlueClaws jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings. Leandro Pineda singled home a run in the first. Then in the second, Anthony Quirion singled home one and Nick Ward the second of the inning to give Jersey Shore a 3-0 lead.

Brooklyn tied the game in the third inning on a 3-run home run from Stanley Consuegra, his fourth home run of the season.

Jersey Shore starter Matt Osterberg came out after allowing three runs, two earned, in five innings. Chase Antle came on in the sixth and allowed an unearned run on a SAC fly by Justin Guerrera that gave Brooklyn a 4-3 lead.

Jace Beck came on for Brooklyn in the sixth and the BlueClaws scored twice. Nick Ward drew a walk with the bases loaded to tie the game and Flores added an infield RBI single to deep short to put the BlueClaws up 5-4. The BlueClaws added runs on an RBI single from Kendall Simmons and a groundout by Lenadro Pineda to extend their lead to 7-4.

Chase Antle (2-0) earned the win and Matt Russell got the last three outs for his first professional save.

The teams continue their series at 11:05 am on Wednesday.
