After an early Greenville run, the BlueClaws tied the game on a DJ Stewart RBI groundout in the second inning. Greenville re-took the lead in the fourth inning on an RBI double from Joe David brought home Gilberto Jimenez.

Jersey Shore came back to take the lead in the bottom of the 5th. Johan Rojas tripled home a run to tie the game and Ethan Wilson followed with an RBI single to put the BlueClaws ahead 3-2.

Mick Abel (3-3) earned the win, allowing two runs in five innings with seven strikeouts. Andrew Schultz threw a scoreless sixth inning and Jason Ruffcorn got his league-leading seventh save.

Wilson threw a runner out at the plate to end the second inning in addition to his game-winning single.

Game Two

The BlueClaws won the nightcap 5-1 behind three home runs and 11 Ben Brown strikeouts.

Wilson, who had the game-winning hit in the opener, started the scoring in the second game with a three-run first inning home run. It was his third of the season and first at ShoreTown Ballpark. Nick Matera, the first BlueClaws player from Rutgers, homered in the third to put the BlueClaws up 4-0.

Brown (2-2) struck out 11 over five scoreless innings. He set a new season high for a BlueClaws pitcher and it was the second highest total of his career. Brown has fanned 17 over 16.1 scoreless innings in his last three starts.

Rixon Wingrove homered for the third straight start in the sixth. He is 7-15 with three home runs since joining the BlueClaws on Tuesday.

The teams finish their series on Sunday at 1:05 pm.
