Charleston Dirty Birds News Release
Charleston, WV (JUNE 14, 2005) â The West Virginia Power went into Tuesday night's game hoping for their first sweep of the season, but the Lakewood BlueClaws spoiled the fun with a 1-0 victory at Appalachian Power Park.
The start of the game was pushed back an hour and a half due to rain. The only run of the game crossed the plate in the top of the third inning. Timi Moni reached on a walk, stole second base, made his way to third base on an errant throw from Carlos Corporan and then scored on a wild pitch. Greg Kloosterman threw a great game but J.A. Happ threw seven scoreless innings to get the win, marking the second outing in a row that Kloosterman has been matched up with a fellow left handed pitcher who threw more than six scoreless innings.
J.A. Happ (4-2) earned the victory, Jacob Barrack (3) earned the save and Greg Kloosterman (3-9) despite only allowing a run through five and two thirds, obtained the loss. The Power fall to 24-42 with the loss and the BlueClaws improve to 22-44 with the win.
The Power are off on Wednesday, but they will finish up the first half with a four game series against the Hagerstown Suns, in Hagerstown on Thursday night. Right-handed pitcher Josh Wahpepah (3-3, 3.53) will throw for the Power and Hagerstown's starter has not been announced. The first pitch will be delivered at 7:05 PM.
