Savannah Sand Gnats News Release

SAVANNAH, Ga. –Shortstop Trey Webb had the chance to deliver his third game-winning walk-off hit in the Gnats last four games, but popped up to the catcher in foul territory to end the game. After giving up six runs early, the Sand Gnats played catch up all night but ran out of outs as they left the tying run on base in the bottom of the ninth.

Webb was in the line up as a shortstop for Ian Desmond who had the night off.

Starting pitcher Greg Bunn gave up six runs, all off home runs, in five innings of work. Once again the Gnats bullpen was solid and made a comeback attempt possible thanks to four perfect innings. Chris Goodman made his return to Savannah after appearing in eight games for the Gnats last season. He struck out two in two hitless innings. Steve Mortimer led off the ninth with a home run, is eighth of the season.

The Sand Gnats will visit Augusta for a four game series starting Thursday before returning home for a three-game set against the first-place Charleston RiverDogs June 21-23. For tickets log onto www.sandgnats.com or call 912-351-9150 during regular business hours.
