Hagerstown Suns News Release

Lexington, KY:The Suns did what looked impossible on Tuesday, and that's score against LHP Troy Patton. Patton had thrown 32 scoreless innings in a row before Grant Psomas' solo homer to led off the second inning. The Suns went on for a very important 8-2 win to pull within one game of Lexington with four games left in the first half.

Ambiorix Concepcion threw out a runner at home to preserve a 1-1 tie in the second inning, and that seemed to energize the Suns bats. They poured it on Patton for six runs on eight hits in 4 1/3 innings against the 19 year old southpaw, and handed him his first loss of the year. It was a two run double by Carlos Gomez that was the final blow that sent Patton to the showers.

Gaby Hernandez (4-1) finally got some much needed run support for his fourth win of the season. Hernandez had got no decisions previously when giving up one run or less and leaving with the lead in five different starts before Tuesday. Hernandez, who had his longest outing of 6 1/3 innings, gave up two runs on seven hits, while striking out seven. Mike Devaney pitched the final 2 2/3 innings of scoreless baseball.

The Suns (39-27) have a day off Wednesday before starting a huge four game series at home against the West Virginia Power, of which the Suns are 6-2 against this season. It will be a 7:05pm start Thursday when the Sky Dogs USA appear, courtesy of Park Circle Animal Hospital. For tickets call 301-791-6266.
