July 1, 2005 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Wilmington Blue Rocks News Release
Wilmington, DE --- The Wilmington Blue Rocks, in conjunction with ShopRite Supermarkets, have announced that they will be holding a canned food drive at Frawley Stadium from July 3 - August 14 to benefit the Food Bank of Delaware. There will be an oversized ShopRite shopping cart on display outside the ballpark prior to every Blue Rocks home game where fans can drop off non-perishable items.
"We are extremely proud to partner with ShopRite in this event," said Wilmington Blue Rocks General Manager Chris Kemple. "The Food Bank of Delaware is a great cause, and we are looking forward to Blue Rocks fans helping us to fill the cart."
All fans dropping off food in the shopping cart outside of Frawley Stadium will be entered in a drawing to win a Blue Rocks prize package at the end of the food drive. The ShopRite cart will be on display on home game days from the time gates open until the game begins.
The Food Bank of Delaware is a non-profit agency distributing food to the hungry people in the area through over 235 member agencies. They are the only facility in Delaware with the equipment, warehouse, and staff to collect donations from all sectors of the food industry and safely and efficiently redistribute it to those who need it most.
Last year, the Food Bank of Delaware distributed almost 12 million pounds of food.
