WILMINGTON, DE - Everett Teaford helped the Wilmington Blue Rocks blank Winston-Salem 1-0 in the series finale on Wednesday night at Frawley Stadium. The Warthogs dropped two of three to the Blue Rocks and finished their week-long road trip with a 3-4 record.

Wilmington manufactured the game's lone run in the fourth inning. Cody Strait led off with a bunt single. A throwing error by Jacob Rasner on a pickoff attempt moved the runner to second. Two outs later, Kurt Mertins reached on an infield single to deep short. On the play, Strait hustled home from second base to give the Blue Rocks a 1-0 lead.

Teaford (7-5) would make the lead stand as he tossed seven shutout innings and scattered six hits. The southpaw walked two and struck out four to earn the win. Blue Rock's relievers Chris Chavez and Ben Swaggerty worked a scoreless eighth inning while Tyler Chambliss retired the side in order in the ninth inning to collect his league-best 21st save.

Rasner (4-6) tossed 5 2/3 innings and held Wilmington to one unearned run on six hits. He walked three and struck out a season-high seven, but suffered the tough luck loss.

The Warthogs return home to welcome the Potomac Nationals to Ernie Shore Field for a four-game series. The opener is set for Thursday night with Winston-Salem sending RHP Matt Long (6-10, 4.66) to the mound. Potomac will counter with RHP Erik Arnesen (2-0, 1.42). The first pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m.
