
Blue Jays Fall in Series Opener to Charlotte 3-1

Clearwater, FL. - A day after recording 10 hits in a win the Blue Jays started and finished slow on Monday. The Stone Crabs came in to Dunedin in the midst of a heated South Division race between five of the six teams.
Charlotte grabbed an early lead with a single from Ronaldo Hernandez and a double from Jim Haley.Nick Allgeyer settled in nicely for the Blue Jays after with five of his first six outs coming by way of the strikeout. The team leader in strikeouts finished with 10 on the day in six innings, and he brought his season total to 66. He finished the day with just the one run allowed, and he picked up the no decision. Paul Campbell matched Nick Allgeyer pitch for pitch in the game as he went seven innings of one-run baseball with eight strikeouts. He was able to pick up the win as the Stone Crabs broke through in the 7thinning.
Dunedin scratched across their lone run in the 4th inning from Chavez Young. A double from Kevin Vicuna was followed by a single from Chavez Young to tie the game. These two hits would account for two-thirds of the hits for the Blue Jays in the contest. Charlotte took the lead in the top of the 7th inning from A Zach Rutherford single, and a Taylor Walls single. It was a part of a three hit inning with Mike Ellenbest in relief for the Blue Jays.
It was a quiet night on the base paths for the Blue Jays, and they found themselves with a tough series opener, but they will be back at it again tomorrow night to redeem their loss and get back into the win column. Justin Dillon will pitch for his seventh home start of the year in ten appearances.
