Florida Fire Frogs News Release

FORT MYERS, FL: A three-run first inning gave the Fort Myers Miracle the runs they needed to keep the Florida Fire Frogs at bay in a 5-2 win on Monday evening at Hammond Stadium.

Miracle sluggers Lewin Diaz and Trevor Larnach got on ahead of Ryan Jeffers in the first, who singled in Diaz for the lead. Jose Miranda followed that up with a double to plate Larnach. A Mark Contreras sacrifice fly enabled Jeffers to cross home for a 3-0 Fort Myers lead.

Top Twins prospect Royce Lewis added a sacrifice fly in the second off RHP Freddy Tarnok to extend the Miracle lead to 4-0.

Tarnok (1-5) yielded five hits, three walks, and four earned runs in four innings of work.

The Fire Frogs cut the lead in half in the fourth. Riley Delgado singled ahead of Jefrey Ramos, who stayed white hot at the dish by smashing an RBI triple to get the Frogs on the board. Greyson Jenista would then bring in Ramos with a sacrifice fly to make it 4-2 Fort Myers.

Jefrey Ramos went 3-4 with an RBI and a run while notching an additional triple in the eighth inning. He became the first player to record two triples in a game this season for Florida.

RHP Brooks Wilson tossed two scoreless frames in his first outing since May 16, scattering three hits and a walk.

Contreras and Michael Helman poked back-to-back hits in the eighth off RHP Sean McLaughlin, the latter being a run-producing double from Helman for some much-needed insurance; 5-2 Miracle.

McLaughlin fanned three over two stanzas.

RHP Edwar Colina (3-1) won his second straight start against the Fire Frogs, giving up seven hits in six innings of two-run baseball. RHP Alex Phillips struck out four in his two frames. RHP Hector Lujan shutout Florida in the ninth to earn his fourth save.

NEXT UP: The FSL's ERA leader LHP Hayden Deal (2-3, 1.65) looks to even the series against the Miracle on Tuesday evening opposite RHP Blayne Enlow (1-0, 1.50). First pitch from Hammond Stadium is at 7 p.m.
