Southern Maryland Blue Crabs News Release

(Waldorf, MD., April 29, 2015)--- The Long Island Ducks beat the Blue Crabs tonight in game three of a four game set 3-0. The Blue Crabs struggled mightily with the bats, having just three hits in the game.

Long Island scored their first run in the top of the second, on a leadoff solo home run from by third baseman Cody Puckett that landed over the wall in left and on top of the roof of the clubhouse. The Ducks would then score in the top of the fifth. Anthony Vega drew a one out walk, stole second base, and advanced to third on Daryle Ward's first error of the season. Evan Crawford then came to the plate and singled on a ground ball that skipped into left centerfield off the outstretched glove of the second basemen Casey Stevenson. The Ducks would add one more insurance run in the eighth inning on a ground ball single to left allowing Evan Crawford to score from third.

RHP Mickey Jannis in his first start against his former team went five innings, allowing just two hits and striking out three. His counterpart Brian Burress went six innings, allowing two runs on four hits, walking one, and striking out four. The bullpen combination of Tommy Organ, Amalio Diaz, Hector Ambriz, and Ryan Kussmaul went four innings, allowing just one hit, and striking out five.

These two teams will meet tomorrow night for the finale of this four game set. RHP Mark Rogers (0-1, 5.40 ERA) will start for Long Island, while RHP Shaun Garceau (0-0, 0.00 ERA) will throw for the Blue Crabs. First pitch will be at 7:05 at Regency Furniture Stadium.
