Blue Coats Topple Westchester Knicks Saturday Night

The Delaware Blue Coats welcomed the Westchester Knicks to the Chase Fieldhouse in Wilmington for their second meeting of the season on Saturday night, and cruised to a 146-111 victory.

Delaware gave their fans plenty of reasons to cheer straight out of the gates, putting up 42 points in the first quarter, including a 27-7 run to end the frame. Braxton Key exploded for 15 points to kickstart his night.

The Coats remained in control of the game until the final horn. Charlie Brown Jr. started the second half strong, accounting for 20 of the 37 total points his team posted in the third quarter. In the fourth, it was Jared Brownridge who stole the show, dropping 20 points of his own, ending the night with 26 total, going 8-10 from beyond the three-point arc.

The Blue Coats' 146 total points is a season high, and every active player scored at least one field goal in the W; seven of those players scored in double-digits.

Key Contributors

Charlie Brown Jr.

Brown Jr. ended the night with 24 total points and shot 9-14 from the field. This was his third game in the last four with at least 20 points.

Braxton Key

Key was influential in giving his team the early lead, as he put up 15 points in the first quarter. He ended the night with 26 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocked shots.

Jared Brownridge

After only having 6 points in the first three quarters, Brownridge exploded for 20 points in the fourth quarter. He shot 80% from three in the game.

The Blue Coats will hit the road once again this week, as they travel to Lakeland to take on the Magic in a two-game series. The first is this Tuesday, March 8, at 7:00 p.m.
