G League Osceola Magic

Cannady Scores 23 to Lead Balanced Attack in Magic Win

March 6, 2022 - NBA G League (G League)
Osceola Magic News Release

The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, defeated the Grand Rapids Gold, NBA G League affiliate of the Denver Nuggets, 119-109 at the RP Funding Center in Lakeland.

In his eight games since returning from a nearly year-long injury, Devin Cannady has averaged just under 18 points per game and shot over 50% from the field and three-point line. Today, in his third start of the season, Cannady led the way for Lakeland with 23 points on five of eight threes. But it wasn't just Cannady who performed well for the Magic in this afternoon's victory as seven of the ten active Lakeland Magic players scored in double figures en route to the total team win.

Jeff Dowtin bookended the first half with buckets, scoring the game's first points on a driving finger roll and finishing the second period with a buzzer-beating pullup. Lakeland got everyone involved, combining for 30 team assists as the balanced attacked proved too much for the Gold.

Manny Camper led Grand Rapids with an impressive double-double, posting 24 points and 15 rebounds. Terrence Jones put up 18 points and six rebounds. Quade Green added 15 points and six assists for the Gold.

Dowtin finished with 18 points and nine assists. BJ Johnson scored 19 points and six rebounds off the bench. Center Jon Teske added 14 points and nine rebounds.

The Lakeland Magic continue their five-game homestand on Tuesday, March 8 against the Delaware Blue Coats in a rematch of last season's NBA G League Finals. Tipoff is at 8:00 PM. Fans can tune in to watch on ESPN+.
