Blue Coats Fall to Go-Go in Home Opener Thursday
November 11, 2022 - NBA G League (G League)
Delaware Blue Coats News Release
In a back and forth game, the Delaware Blue Coats dropped their home opener 120-116 to the Capital City Go-Go.
The Go-Go went on an 11-0 run early in the first quarter to go ahead by eight points before, out of the timeout, the Blue Coats went on an 18-0 run of their own to take a 23-13 lead. Another hot streak for the Go-Go and a few exchanged baskets left the game tied after one.
Thanks to a 12 point second quarter from Coats center Michael Foster Jr., another 12 from guard Jaden Springer, and a solid defensive performance that forced 13 turnovers, the Coats took a 60-51 lead into halftime.
Springer added 11 more points in the third quarter while guard Justin Smith proved to be a spark plug off the bench.
Entering the final frame, the Coats held an 87-83 advantage with the momentum on their side. After a small run by the Go-Go tied the game at 92, Foster Jr. was able to give the Coats a two point lead with 8:00 minutes remaining. Following that basket it would be a back and forth battle to the finish.
Despite a clutch basket by Blue Coats guard Skylar Mays to give the Coats a one point lead with less than a minute remaining, the Go-Go took a 114-113 lead with 40 seconds to go and never looked back.
The Blue Coats and Go-Go will face off again on Saturday night at 6:00.
