Stockton Kings Fall to Salt Lake City in Home Opener

The Stockton Kings (0-2), the NBA G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings, fell short to the Salt Lake City Stars (2-0), the NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, 122-106 on Thursday evening.

Stockton guard DJ Steward finished the game with 17 points and three assists to lead all Kings scorers. In a strong scoring battle, the first half ended with Salt Lake City leading the Kings by 10 points, 57-47. Stockton forward Wes Iwundu posted 10 points, four rebounds, and one assist in the first half. Salt Lake City found a boost in its secondary group as two bench players scored in double-digits. Guard Frank Jackson and forward Paris Bass combined for 48 points in the match. Salt Lake City earned the largest lead of the game at the six-minute mark in the fourth quarter with a 21-point lead. Stockton struggled to fight back before closing out the fourth quarter.

Three Stockton starters scored in double figures. Stockton center Neemias Queta led Kings starters with a double-double, posting 16 points, 13 rebounds and two blocks. Guards Keon Ellis and Jordan Ford totaled 29 points and four assists.

The Stockton Kings wrap up the back-to-back series against Salt Lake City on Friday, November 11 at 7 p.m. at the Stockton Arena. The game can be viewed via ESPN+.
