WINNIPEG, MB â No one can accuse Brendan Taman of being conventional.
Today, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers general manager & vice-president of football operations signed three players, all with the last name of Smith â linebacker Ed Smith, defensive back Marcel Smith and defensive back Marcus Smith.
"We're trying to keep success in the family," said Taman, who is likely to add family tree coordinator to his lengthy job title. "With Khari, Reggie and possibly Jermese Jones coming to camp, I'm just making sure the Smiths keep up with the Joneses."
Linebacker Ed Smith (6-3, 230, Fairmont State '03, DOB: May 8, 1981 in Wheeling, WV) is a youngster with speed, strength and skill.
Defensive back Marcel Smith (6-0, 185, Northwest Missouri State '02, DOB: Oct. 27, 1979 in Kansas City, MO) is a defender with good coverage skills.
Defensive back Marcus Smith (5-10, 185, Memphis '02, DOB: Aug. 17, 1980 in Memphis, TN) is a tough DB that can play inside.
