2004 Canadian Football League CBC Television Schedule Released
April 2, 2004 - Canadian Football League (CFL) News Release
Toronto, Ontario â The Canadian Football League announced the CBC portion of its 2004 television broadcast schedule today. CBC will air a total of 22 regular-season games and all 5 playoff encounters including the 92nd Grey Cup in Ottawa on November 21.
In 2003, CBC made significant changes to its CFL format and introduced Saturday night prime time football as a destination for CFL viewers. This season's schedule will feature 13 Saturday night games in the 27-game package, including playoffs and Grey Cup. CBC is also introducing Saturday doubleheaders to the mix, on September 18 and October 2. CFL on CBC will also feature the traditional doubleheaders - the Labour Day Classic (September 6) and the Gridiron Thanksgiving (October 11).
Last season's CBC coverage led to record audiences for the Division Championship games with 1.4 million viewers tuning into the East Championship and 1.6 million watching the West Championship. The 2003 season was capped off with another exciting Grey Cup that saw Edmonton defeat the Montreal Alouettes 34-22 in Regina.
The CFL on CBC Pre-Game Show featuring Brian Williams will return for a sophomore season along with its panel of experts on location prior to kickoff and at half time throughout the season.
The CFL also announced a schedule change involving the game featuring the Toronto Argonauts at Edmonton Eskimos originally scheduled for Friday, September 24 at 7:00 PM local. That game has been moved to Saturday, September 25 at 7:30 PM local.
