Thunder Bay Border Cats News Release
The Border Cats dropped their fourth game in a row on their season long eight-game road trip as they lost 14-9 to the Alexandria Blue Anchors Wednesday night at Knute Nelson Memorial Park. The Cats held a 6-4 lead, but the Blue Anchors took the lead for good with a five-run 5th inning. Alexandria also scored four times in the bottom of the 8th as the Blue Anchors dropped Thunder Bay's second half record to 3-11.
Jason Vosler (Northeastern University) hit his seventh home run in the loss, a solo shot, that ties him with Tyler Duplantis (Nicholls State University) for the team lead. Joey Hawkins (Missouri State University) hit his first home run of the season as he went 2-3 and knocked in three runs. Dylan Becker (Missouri State University) also homered, his third of the campaign, as he went 2-4 with two runs batted in and three runs scored. Ty Stetson (Murray State University) had a 2-3 night at the plate and scored twice.
Derec Olson (Rockhurst University) took the loss in relief to fall to 0-1. The lefthander allowed three hits and two runs in one-third of an inning. Jordan Church (Sam Houston State University) started for the Cats and pitched 4 2/3 innings. The righthander gave up eight hits and seven runs with two walks and two strikeouts.
The Cats and Blue Anchors conclude their three-game series tonight at 8:05pm ET.
