DAYTON, OH - Casey Bloomquist fifth start of the season was a gem leading the South Bend Cubs to a 5-0 win over the Dayton Dragons at Fifth Third Field Saturday night.

Cubs pitchers have now recorded 23 consecutive scoreless innings in the series. Dayton's last and only run of the series was in the fourth inning Thursday.

Donnie Dewees staked Bloomquist to a 1-0 lead in the sixth with a two-out double that scored Roberto Caro who had walked.

The Cubs added another run in the seventh inning when Josh Silver delivered a one-out RBI double to deep left center field bringing home Eddy Martinez to give South Bend a 2-0 advantage.
