Oklahoma City Blazers News Release
COACH SAUTER SURPASSES COACHING MILESTONE - Blazers head coach Doug Sauter surpassed an important milestone in his career last Saturday. Already the third most tenured coach in North American professional sports, the Blazers 8-1 win over the Tulsa Oilers last Saturday was his 1,200th win as a head coach. On the horizon for Sauter is the 500-win plateau as coach of the Blazers and the 700-win mark as a coach of a professional team.
BLAZERS WIN ON SATURDAY A FIRST - The Blazers victory over the Tulsa Oilers on Saturday marked a "first" for the Blazers this season. The win put them two games over the .500 mark for the season. That is the first time Oklahoma City has been two games over the .500 mark.
BLAZERS TAKE ON THE BLAZE BASKETBALL TEAM TUESDAY - The Oklahoma City Blazers will endure their annual beating at the hands of the Oklahoma Blaze junior wheelchair basketball team. The annual game will take place at the Hamilton Fieldhouse on the campus of the University of Central Oklahoma on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Admission for adults is $4.
WATSON BAGS FIRST HAT TRICK OF THE SEASON - Blazers forward Ryan Watson picked up the Blazers first hat trick of the season last Saturday night. He had recorded one of the ten two-goal games by a Blazer this season. Incidentally, Watson also had the last Blazers hat trick on February 23, 2007 against Lubbock. Watson recorded five points last week (4-1-5) and is a solid Player of the Week candidate.
PRO'S FIVE-POINT NIGHT - Blazers veteran forward Garrett Prosofsky snapped out of a mini-slump in a big way Saturday night. He recorded a Blazers season best five points (1-4-5). His goal was his first since December 15. Prosofsky's five-point night is the first by a Blazer since Jared Dumba recorded five points on March 5, 2006 against Tulsa.
OKC WITH SUCCESS AGAINST TULSA - The Blazers have experienced a level of success against Tulsa not seen very often in the Turnpike Rivalry. Through nine games of the rivalry this season, the Blazers are 7-1-1.
