Beaudry Named CHL Goalie Of The Week

(Austin, TX) - The Central Hockey League announced today that the recipient for the Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending January 20th, 2008 is goaltender Miguel Beaudry of the Austin Ice Bats.

Beaudry receives the top weekly goaltender award for the second time this season (Oakley/CHL Goaltender of the Week for the Week of November 26th, 2007). His most recent recognition is on the heels of a 2-0 week allowing four goals while stopping 86 of 90 shots. The Ice Bats are one of the hottest teams in the CHL winning four straight games and six of their last seven. The Verner, Ontario native stopped 40 shots on Friday in a win versus Corpus Christi and 46 shots in the Ice Bats victory on Saturday over Amarillo.

On the season, Beaudry is 8-13-0 with a 3.56 goals against average and a .902 save percentage. But in his last six games Beaudry is 4-1-0 with a 2.61 goals against average and a .933 save percentage.

Beaudry and the Ice Bats are back in action Tuesday in Corpus Christi, which can be heard on 1530 ESPN Austin and espnaustin.com. The team returns home Friday to Chaparral Ice Arena to take on the Texas Brahmas at 7:35 PM.
