Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Jan. 18 @ Amarillo Gorillas, 6-3 Win - The Rage completed a five-game season series sweep of the Gorillas as Brent Cullaton registered a five-point (1g-4a) night and his linemates Trevor Weisgerber and Daymen Rycroft each had two goals and two assists. Having finished a 15-game league suspension, goaltender Terry Dunbar returned to action for the first time since Dec. 1 and made 35 saves in the winning effort.
Jan. 19 vs. Colorado Eagles, 5-4 Overtime Win - In the sixth game of the rivals' 12-game season series, Rocky Mountain jumped out to a pair of one-goal leads early in the first period but failed to hold onto either as the club fell behind, 4-2, through 20 minutes. Still down, 4-2, as the third period began, Cullaton quickly scored at 2:40 before Weisgerber tied the game at 4:37. The same line then won the game in overtime on the power play when Cullaton set-up Rycroft for the game-winner just 43 seconds in, giving the Rage an eight-point lead ahead of the Eagles atop the Northwest Division.

COME-FROM-BEHIND WIN SPRINGS RAGE INTO FIRST OVERALL
While Rocky Mountain has led the league in winning percentage for a majority of the season, the team has finally climbed its way into the overall points lead, as well. Despite having played six fewer games than the Southern Conference-leading Laredo Bucks, the Rage, armed with 55 points in the standings, leap-frogged the Bucks (54 points and losers of four straight) into first-place overall in the CHL with their two victories this past weekend. The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs, who had a league record-tying 15-game win streak snapped last night following a shootout loss to the Youngstown SteelHounds, are right on Rocky Mountain's tail in the Northern Conference with 54 points.
A RYCROFT REPEAT??
Daymen Rycroft began last week as the CHL's reigning Player of the Week after recording 11 points (6g-5a) in the three games preceding the All-Star Break, and he'll be a candidate for the award again for his work over the weekend that now has him positioned as the league's leader in total goals (29) and power play goals (14). The fourth-year pro totaled three goals and four assists against Amarillo and Colorado, including the game-winner in both contests. He now has four game-winners in the last six games to take over the league lead in that category, as well, with seven on the year. Rycroft is riding a new team-record six-game goal streak and has had at least three points five games in a row.
CULLATON ANNOUNCES HIS CANDIDACY
Rycroft's stiffest competition for a second straight Player of the Week honor may come from his linemate, captain Brent Cullaton. Following an MVP performance for the Northern Conference during the CHL All-Star Game, Cullaton then racked up eight points (2g-6a) over the weekend. He tied a team record for most assists in a game with his four helpers against the Gorillas and crossed the 50-assist threshold for the season against the Eagles. The league's top playmaker (CHL best 51 assists) has started to light the lamp with more regularity, as well. He scored just four goals over the season's first 25 games, but now has six over the last nine. Cullaton is tied for second in the league with 61 points overall and is also approaching a very impressive career milestone with 697 points (253g-444a) in his 12 years as a pro.
ROAD TRIP LOOMS
Following tomorrow's clash with the Killer Bees, the Rage will embark on their longest road trip of the season. The seven-game, five-city trek takes the team to Youngstown, Laredo, Corpus Christi, Rio Grande Valley, and Tulsa. Rocky Mountain finally returns to Broomfield Event Center on Feb. 8 and 9 against the top two teams in the Southwest Division, the Arizona Sundogs and Odessa Jackalopes, respectively.
Single-game tickets are available for the remainder of the 2007-08 regular season with prices ranging from $18 - $43 per seat (parking included). Fans can purchase tickets at Broomfield Event Center's box office or through Ticketmaster by logging-on to www.Ticketmaster.com, calling (303) 830-TIXS, or visiting any Ticketmaster retail outlet.
