Kamloops, BC - The Kamloops Blazers have announced today that the hockey club has signed 2008-born forward Ty Bonkowski to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement. Bonkowski was selected by the Blazers in the sixth round of the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft in May.
Bonkowski is from Richmond, BC and was the first forward selected by the Blazers in the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft. The 5'10" and 140lb forward had nine goals, 23 assists and 32 points in 27 games with the Burnaby Winter Club U15 Prep team during the 2022-23 season.
"We would like to welcome Ty and his family to the Kamloops Blazers organization," said General Manager / Head Coach, Shaun Clouston. "We are excited to be a part of Ty's development over the coming seasons."
Bonkowski is the third player signed in the 2008-born age group. The Blazers now have their top three selections signed from the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft after announcing the signings of defensemen Dryden Deobald and Kaden Meyer at the end of June.
