Riley Armstong Named Flyers' Director of Player Development

Original Silvertip Riley Armstrong has been promoted within the Philadelphia Flyers' organization, as he will assume the title of Director of Player Development ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Armstrong skated in 69 regular season games for the 2003-04 Silvertips, netting 18 goals with 26 assists and 119 penalty minutes. He contributed five goals and four assists in 21 postseason appearances, helping the Tips to a Western Conference title.

He went on to play in 12 professional seasons, including two NHL games with the San Jose Sharks, 404 AHL games and 75 ECHL games.

Upon retiring, he earned an assistant coach job with the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL in 2016-17 where he remained for two seasons. He was then hired by the ECHL's Maine Mariners as their first head coach and later assistant general manager. Armstrong rose to an assistant coaching position with the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms, the Flyers' affiliate, in 2021-22.
