Former Wheat Kings Bring the Stanley Cup to Westman

BRANDON, MB - The excitement is growing as the Stanley Cup parade through Manitoba begins. The Vegas Golden Knights won the Stanley Cup in 5 games over the Florida Panthers, bringing their first championship to the city in only their 6th year in the NHL, featuring a roster that was loaded with Brandon Wheat King and Manitoba connections.

Westman hockey fans will first have an opportunity to see the cup with former Wheat King player, coach, general manager, and owner Kelly McCrimmon on Friday July 21st, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, in the Manitoba Room of the Keystone Centre. *Entrance will be at the large overhead doors.

The event is open to the public, and admission is free. Fans of all ages are encouraged to attend, participate in the festivities, and capture memories that will last a lifetime.

Then on Saturday July 22nd, from 2pm - 4pm, former Wheat Kings captain Ryan Craig will have a public viewing of the cup at Poplar Ridge Golf Course in Onanole, MB.

In total six former Wheat Kings had their names engraved on Lord Stanley's cup. Joining McCrimmon and Craig are Vaughn Karpan, Bob Lowes, Mark Stone and Logan Thompson. The Golden Knights other Manitoba connections include Zach Whitecloud (Sioux Valley) and Keegan Kolesar (Seattle Thunderbirds Alumni, Winnipeg, MB).

The Stanley Cup, steeped in tradition and revered by players and fans alike, holds a special place in the hearts of hockey enthusiasts. It is a symbol of perseverance, teamwork, and excellence. These events promise to be a landmark moment for Manitoba and the hockey community at large.
