Blazers Pick Bubnick Fifth Overall

The Blazers selected C Jimmy Bubnick of Saskatoon with the 5th overall selection in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft.

Jimmy, the younger brother of former WHLers Michael and Jonathan, with Jonathan being a former Blazer, is a 6'0", 170-pound forward who played for the Bantam AA Saskatoon Outlaws last season.

The 6'0", 170-pound forward played for the Bantam AA Saskatoon Outlaws last season, scoring 72 goals and 118 points in 53 games.

With their second selection in the 2006 WHL Bantam Draft, the Blazers selected goaltender James Priestner of Edmonton.

Priestner (6'0", 165 lbs.) played for Edmonton CAC Bantam AAA last season, being named co-winner of the Alberta Major Bantam League's Top Goaltender award. He posted a 21-1-0 record in 05-06 with a .914 save percentage and a 2.02 goals against average.

Priestner was the second goaltender selected in the bantam draft.
