Kamloops Blazers News Release

KAMLOOPS, BC - The Kamloops Blazers and Tri-City Americans today completed a trade which sees the Blazers acquire 16-year-old defenseman Jeff Weselake (Winnipeg, MB) and a 7th round selection in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft from the Americans in exchange for 18-year-old defenseman/forward Kevin Kraus and 18-year-defenseman Joel Woznikoski.

Weselake, a 5' 10", 175-pound blueliner, spent last season with the Winnipeg Sharks in the Manitoba Midget AAA League scoring 4 goals and adding 7 assists to go along with 68 penalty minutes in 33 games. Weselake is expected to play in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League this season.

"We'd like to thank Kevin and Joel for their commitments to our team over the past few seasons," says General manager and Head Coach Dean Clark. "We wish them well as they continue their careers with the Americans."

The trade leaves the Blazers with 26 players on their roster (14 forwards, 8 defensemen, and 4 goaltenders) heading into Tuesday's game in Abbotsford against Chilliwack.
