
Americans Add Depth to Blue Line; Trade Weselake

KENNEWICK, WA - Tri-City Americans' general manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has acquired eighteen year-old defensemen Kevin Kraus and Joel Woznikoski from the Kamloops Blazers in exchange for Tri-City prospect Jeff Weselake and a seventh round draft pick in the 2008 Bantam Draft.
Kraus, 6'1 204 lbs, is a native of Garden Grove, CA. He appeared in 36 games for the Blazers last season, notching three assists and recording 57 penalty minutes. Woznikoski, 6'3 176 lbs, hails from Surrey, BC and appeared in three games for Kamloops last season. He primarily played for the Westside Jr. A Warriors of the British Columbia Hockey League, where he registered two assists and 87 penalty minutes in 32 games.
Weselake, a 5'10 175 lbs defenseman, collected four goals and 11 points last season for the Winnipeg Sharks Midget AAA. Weselake was a 10th round (196 overall) draft pick by Tri-City in the 2006 Bantam.
"Both players will provide some depth and size to our blue line as we proceed towards the beginning of the 2007-08 season," stated Tory. "This move will give Jeff an opportunity to keep playing at the major junior level. We wish him all the best."
Kraus and Woznikoski will arrive in Tri-City tomorrow and practice with the team.
