Blair, Cats Down Captains 8-1

Cameron Blair homered and had two RBIs as the Cats defeated Shreveport-Bossier 8-1 on Wednesday night at LaGrave Field. It was the Cats' second straight victory marking the first time since July 15-16 that they have won consecutive games.

After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the third, the Cats got a leadoff double from Isa Garcia in the bottom of the inning. Two outs later, Garcia was at third as Cameron Blair and Captains' starter Ronald Lowe engaged in a 16-pitch battle in which Blair prevailed with an RBI single to right, scoring Garcia to tie the game.

The next batter, Pat O'sullivan smoked a ball off the wall in deep center field for a double, scoring Blair for a 2-1 Cats' lead.

Fort Worth added four more runs in the fifth on an RBI single by O'Sullivan, a two-run double by John Allen and a run-scoring single by Patterson to make it 6-1. They got two more runs later on a seventh-inning solo homer by Michael Bell, his 10th and an eighth-inning shot from Blair, his second to make it 8-1.

Cats' starter Jae Jung (5-3) notched his first win in three attempts against the Captains this season as he allowed a run on five hits in six innings pitched. Lowe (5-8) took the loss as he gave up six runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings of work .

O'Sullivan finished the game 2-for-5 with two runs batted in, bringing his total to 55 for the season. Allen improved his team-leading total to 63 with his two RBIs. Kelley Gulledge had two hits in the game and now has five over the first two games of the series.

Fort Worth had 13 hits on Wednesday night after a club-record tying 22 hits in the series opener on Tuesday.

The Cats and Captains wrap up the series on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. Lee Gwaltney returns to the Cats' rotation as he will oppose right-hander Thad Markray for Shreveport-Bossier.
