Blades Slash Tigers 4-2 in Halloween Clash
October 31, 2021 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Medicine Hat Tigers News Release
The Tigers closed out the weekend with a tilt against the Saskatoon Blades at Co-op Place. The game featured two of the league's hottest offensive players. Heading into the game, Lukas Svejkovsky (7G, 12A) and Tristen Robins (7G, 12A) sat atop the league leader board with 19 points each.
The Blades got off to the early lead with a power play marker midway through the opening frame. Kyle Crnkovic netted his 9th of the year from Tristen Robins and Brendan Lee. Just over a minute later, Brayden Boehm evened the game up with his first of the season. Boehm battled hard in front of the net and was able to put the loose puck into the back of the net. Steven Arp and Oasiz Wiesblatt found the scoresheet with the assists on the goal. Egor Sidorov put Saskatoon back up one with just under four minutes remaining in the first. He wristed home a rebound off a Tristan Robins shot on the power play for his 5th of the year.
The Blades' power play struck again early in the second period. Kyle Crnkovic scored his second of the game to tie him for the league lead in goals with 10. Oren Shtrom would cut the lead back down to one a few minutes later. Rhett Parsons found Shtrom parked in front of the net for his third of the season. Tyler MacKenzie picked up the secondary assist on the goal.
The Blades power play capitalized on another opportunity at the beginning of the third. Brendan Lee's third goal of the season gave Saskatoon a bit of breathing room. The Tigers kept battling hard but Ethan Chadwick was solid in net for the Blades as they held on for a 4-2 victory.
Beckett Langkow (2-1-0-1) got the start between the posts for the Tabbies. Langkow has been off to a great start to the season. This was his first loss in regulation. He made 20 saves on 24 shots.
