Blades make adjustments to roster

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced today that defenseman Jonathan Paiement has been assigned to the club by the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League and that defenseman Nate Hagemo has been released.

Paiement opened the 2008-09 season with the River Rats and played in one game on October 11 vs. Bridgeport before being assigned. Last year the 23-year-old split the campaign between three different clubs in the ECHL and AHL. Paiement began last season with the Texas Wildcatters in the ECHL where he registered 17 points (3g, 14a) in 22 games. The Montreal, Quebec native also saw action with the Hershey Bears and the Rockford Ice Hogs in the AHL, tallying two goals in three games with Rockford and notching 13 points (2g, 11a) in 37 games with the Bears.

Paiement made his professional debut in 2006-07 with the Wildcatters where he skated in all 72 regular season games scoring 43 points (6g, 37a) and chipped in three points in 10 Kelly Cup Playoff games. Prior to turning pro the 6-foot-1, 201 pound blue liner spent five seasons at the junior level with Sherbrooke and Lewiston of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

In 2004, the New York Rangers selected Paiement in the 8th round of the NHL Entry Draft.
