
Salmon Kings Announce Goldie As Team Captain

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that forward Wes Goldie will wear the 'C' on his jersey as the Salmon King's captain for the 2008-09 season.
Goldie, in his third season with Victoria, has led the team in goals in both of his seasons on the island. Tim Wedderburn and Matt Kelly were named as alternate captains for the 2008-09 season.
Goldie and Wedderburn are considered veterans by ECHL standards (260 professional games played). Goldie has participated in 524 games in his nine years as a professional and Wedderburn has played in 376 games over seven seasons. Kelly has suited up for 123 games over two years of professional play.
The Salmon Kings kick off the regular season with a three game set in Phoenix beginning on Friday at the US Airways Center. Victoria's home schedule begins on October 24th when the team welcomes the Stockton Thunder to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre for a 7:05 p.m. game
