Steelheads Announce Opening Day Roster

Idaho Steelheads News Release
BOISE, Idaho - The ECHL's Idaho Steelheads announced its opening-day roster today with 20 active players; four of them veterans. The two-time Kelly Cup Champions drop the puck on their 12th season, Saturday at Qwest Arena.
Head Coach Derek Laxdal also announced today that veteran forward Marty Flichel has been named the team captain, and All-Star defenseman Darrell Hay and former NHL'er Steve Gainey have each been named assistant captains.
The roster is comprised of 11 forwards (and two inactive), 8 defenseman and 2 goaltenders. Seven players (one inactive) are returning from the 2007-08 season, including Craig Cescon, Flichel, Hay, Kory Scoran, Brent Shepheard, and Travis Wight. ECHL All-Star Mark Bomersback is currently on loan to the American Hockey League's Providence Bruins. Two players from previous Steelheads seasons are also on the roster, including Garett Bembridge who played with Idaho and was named to the ECHL All-Star team during the 2005-06 season and Derek Paget who last played with the Steelheads as a member of the 2004 Kelly Cup Championship team.
Forwards- Garett Bembridge (veteran), Curtis Billsten (3 day IR), Mark Bomersback (AHL), Craig Cescon, Dan Eves, Marty Flichel (veteran), Steve Gainey (veteran), Blaine Jarvis, Jimmy Kerr, Ben Nelson, Derek Paget, Brent Shepheard, and Kris Sparre.
Defensemen- Darrell Hay (veteran), Kyle Radke, Kory Scoran, Matt Stephenson, Kelly Sullivan, Adam Welch, Riley Weselowski, and Travis Wight (inactive).
Goaltenders- Rejean Beauchemin and Matt Climie
