Saskatoon Blades News Release

Saskatoon, SK - The Saskatoon Blades have made their second round of roster cuts following the first set of pre-season games over the weekend.

2003 born prospects Marek Schneider (D), Charlie Wright (D), and forward Sammy May have been released. Each of the 2018 draft picks appeared in two pre-season games with the Blades over the weekend. Schneider, who is expected to join his hometown Prince Albert Mintos of the Saskatchewan Midget AAA League, tallied an assist in each of his two pre-season games.

Charlie Wright collected 6 penalty minutes in his WHL pre-season debut. The Olds, Alberta, product will join Northern Alberta Xtreme Elite 15 squad and play in the CSSHL E15 league this season.

Forward Sammy May was held off the scoresheet in two contests, but the 2018 11th round draft pick surprised many over the past week after earning a contract in camp and getting into two pre-season games. May (Richmond, BC) is expected to join the Greater Vancouver Canadians of the British Columbia Major Midget League this season.

Also released from the Blades was 2002 born goaltender, Cameron Beson. The netminder from Grande Prairie, Alberta, earned himself a list spot with the Blades after a strong showing in his second Blades' camp as an invite.

2017 draft pick, Alex Ozar, was released prior the weekend set of pre-season games and will prepare for his second season with the Prince Albert Mintos of the SMHL.

Saskatoon's pre-season roster now sits at 18 forwards, 9 defensemen, and 3 goaltenders.

The exhibition schedule continues on Thursday night in Prince Albert when the Blades visit the Raiders, then the two rivals will meet again on Saturday night in Warman at the Legends Centre. Tickets for the game in Warman are available at the Legends Centre and the Blades office for $10 each; proceeds go directly towards Warman Minor Hockey.
