
Americans Snag Shootout Win over Giants

Everett, WA - The Tri-City Americans played their final of three games at the Delta Hotels Preseason Tournament hosted by the Everett Silvertips today. For the second time this weekend the game ended in a shootout win for the Americans.
Isaac Johnson scored both of the Americans goals against the Vancouver Giants. The first came 16:52 into the first period on the power play, assisted by Kyle Olson and Tom Cadieux. The team showed strength on the power play throughout the weekend finishing 5/16 with a man-advantage.
Johnson's second goal was unassisted only :26 seconds into the second period and stands as Tri-City's only even-strength goal of the weekend. He ends the preseason tournament leading the Americans in points (2-2-4).
Twenty-year-old Davis Koch scored the Giants first goal on a power play at 3:14 into the second period. The rest of the second period was highlighted by penalties. Four players from each Tri-City (Newell, Brown, Bruce, Clayton) and Vancouver (Dahliwal, Bulych, Hardy, Koch) received a fighting major and game misconduct. The game finished with 72 total penalty minutes for Vancouver and 70 for Tri-City.
A late third period goal from Justin Sourdif tied the game for the Giants and sent the game into overtime. Jared Dmytriw received a tripping penalty 1:30 into overtime, but the Americans were unable to capitalize on the two-minute power play.
Rookie goaltender Talyn Boyko stopped 25/27 Vancouver shots before denying all four shots in his second shootout of the weekend.
Seventeen-year-old Connor Bouchard scored the only goal in the four-round shootout to steal the win for the Americans.
