Blades Break Highlight Reel, Dismantle Pats 6-4
January 5, 2024 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
Saskatoon Blades' forward Egor Sidorov captured the attention of the hockey world in the team's 6-4 victory Friday at the Brandt Centre against the Regina Pats.
The Anaheim Ducks draft pick already has a goal-of-the-year candidate on Jan. 5th that played on sports networks across North America. Sidorov streaked in on a breakaway and shot behind his back for his 34th goal of the season. Fans initially assumed he went between-the-legs, a goal he has scored in the past. Sidorov's been there and done that though and challenged himself for something even more filthy. The Vitebsk, Belarus extended his point streak to ten games (10G, 8A).
Captain Trevor Wong was the leader on offence all night with a pair of goals and assists to earn first star. The Vancouver, BC product's point streak also extends to ten games (4G, 18A). Wong also leads the team in points with 64 points (11G, 53A) and has the most assists in the WHL.
Sniper Brandon Lisowsky's point streak is also now at ten games (5G, 9A) after he scored his 99th career goal in the WHL.
The Blades improve to 11-0-2-1 in their last 14 games, and sit first in the Eastern Conference with a 26-8-2-1 record.
NEXT GAME: The Blades embark north to Prince Albert for a Saturday night fight against the Raiders.
Puck drop is 7:00pm.
