
Blackwater, Constant Head Back to the AHL

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, announced rookie center Judd Blackwater has been loaned to the Rochester Americans of the AHL on a professional tryout agreement (PTO) and defenseman Ryan Constant has been recalled from the Thunder to Springfield.
Blackwater, 21, has skated in 32 combined games this season as a rookie for the Thunder and Fresno Falcons, scoring 21 points (7g-14a) while amassing 43 penalty minutes. The 6-foot, 193-pound forward was signed by the Thunder as a free agent on Dec. 30, 2008 and posted seven points (2g-5a) and 20 PIM's in 15 games after his arrival in Stockton.
It is the second recall to the AHL this season for Blackwater, who previously played in nine games with Rockford IceHogs where he scored three goals and posted nine penalty minutes after being signed to a 25-game professional tryout agreement (PTO) with Rockford on Jan. 28.
Blackwater's PTO agreement is on a 25-game tryout basis (maximum) with Rochester.
Constant, 23, has skated in 38 games for the Thunder this season, scoring eight points (4g-4a) while amassing 67 penalty minutes.
The Opaskwayak Cree Nation, Mantioba resident has skated in six games for Springfield this season, posting four penalty minutes.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound defenseman was signed to an AHL contract with Springfield before the 2008-09 season and has appeared in 180 career games with the Thunder and Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL and the Falcons and Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL, scoring 53 points (10g-43a) while posting 232 penalty minutes.
The Thunder returns to play at home on Friday, Feb. 27 against the Idaho Steelheads, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Stockton Arena. The game is available on radio at 1420 KSTN and for viewing online (audio is free-of-charge) for a $7 charge at http://www.stocktonthunder.com/ (courtesy of B2 Networks).
