
Black Bears Defense Struggles, Losing to Auburn by a 14-0 Final

West Virginia Black Bears News Release
(July 3, 2016)- The Black Bears defense struggled Sunday, losing game three to Auburn, 14-0. Starting pitcher for the Black Bears, James Marvel gave up five hits in 1.2 innings pitched, backed by two fielding errors that would bring in seven runs for the Doubledays. Relief P Neil Kozikowski, tried to shut down the Doubledays with three strikeouts but struggled giving up eight hits and allowing five runs. In the bottom of the eight, Black Bears brought in C Chris Harvey to pitch who gave up two runs ending the game with a final of 14-0.
The Black Bears had only two hits by 1B Albert Baur, left five men on base and a combined six strikeouts.
The Black Bears will be on the road tomorrow, July 4, for game one versus the Aberdeen Iron Birds at 7:05pm. West Virginia will be back at Monongalia County Ballpark, Friday, July 8 versus the Tri-City Valleycats.
