Indianapolis Indians News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - The Buffalo Bisons used 17 hits and a triple play to cruise to a 12-3 series-opening win over the Indianapolis Indians on Monday night at Victory Field.
With runners on first and second in the bottom of the fifth, Pedro Florimon lined to Bisons starter Randy Wolf (4-1) to begin the baseball rarity. Wolf then whipped a throw to second base to double off Jaff Decker, and Ramon Santiago completed the 1-4-3 series with a throw to first baseman Daric Barton that just beat the diving runner back to the bag.
The triple play was the first for the Tribe (30-22) since former Indians infielder Chase d'Arnaud bunt popped into the beginning of one on May 16, 2012 at Lehigh Valley.
All nine Bisons batters hit safely and each of the first seven batters in the lineup produced multi-hit efforts. The barrage chased Tribe starter Chris Volstad (3-2) after five innings with six runs on 10 hits.
Steve Lombardozzi led the Indians with a 3-for-4 night and run scored.
