Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release
Moosic, PA - The woes at PNC Field continued for the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) on Tuesday night. The Pawtucket Red Sox cracked three home runs en route to a 5-3 win. The RailRiders (26-26) have lost three straight at home and saw their five-game winning streak against the Red Sox (27-25) end.
Matt Tracy (0-3) absorbed the loss after allowing a run on one hit in 1.1 innings of relief. Dalier Hinojosa (2-0) suffered a blown save, but battled back to earn the win. He limited the RailRiders to an unearned run on two hits over 2.1 frames, striking out three. Heath Hembree hurled a perfect ninth for his seventh save.
SWB jumped out to an early 2-0 lead thanks to a run-producing triple by Kyle Roller in the opening stanza and a single by Mason Williams that scored Tyler Austin in the second.
Jackie Bradley Jr. powered a home run out to right off starter Kyle Davies in the third. Davies allowed one run on four hits across five innings in a no decision.
Humberto Quintero slammed a two-run shot out to left against reliever Chris Martin in the sixth for a 3-2 PawSox lead. The RailRiders rallied to knot the score in the seventh on a double by Williams.
Luis Jimenez struck the game-deciding blow in the eighth when reliever Branden Pinder surrendered a two-run blast to the bullpen in left.
Williams finished 3-for-3 with a double, walk, stolen base, RBI and a run scored. Roller had a 2-for-3 night that included his first three-baser of the season.
The RailRiders continue their series with the Pawtucket Red Sox (Boston Red Sox) at PNC Field on Tuesday night. The RailRiders will hand out 1,000 t-shirts as part of T-Shirt Tuesday, presented by Norwegian Cruise Lines. Southpaw Jose De Paula is expected to make his season debut for SWB against RHP Keith Couch (2-5, 5.33). First pitch is set for 6:35 p.m. For tickets or more information, call 570-969-BALL (2255) or visit the team's website, www.swbrailriders.com.
