Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon the Buffalo Bisons take on the Pawtucket Red Sox in the second game of a three-game series from Dunn Tire Park (1:05 p.m.). With last night's win, Buffalo is 1-0 in their final homestand of the regular season (7 games). On the hill today will be LHP John Koronka. The lefty is coming off a five-inning victory over Ottawa last Saturday. Pawtucket will counter with RHP David Pauley.
vs. THE PAWSOX: The Bisons are 9-3 against Pawtucket this year, good for a .750 winning percentage. Buffalo has won the last nine games between these two teams and 19 of the last 26 dating back to last season. IL BATTING RACE: Rochester's Jose Morales is back in front in the see-saw IL batting race. Morales (.322) is one point ahead of Buffalo's Ben Francisco (.321). The last Bison to win a batting championship was Mark Ryal, who hit .334 in 1990 in the American Association.
DOUBLES DUTY: Ryan Mulhern collected his 35th double last night, which ties him with two others for the fourth most in a single season in the Bisons Modern Era (Jhonny Peralta -44, 2004). With a .306 batting average, Mulhern is 7th in the IL while his doubles total is 3rd. He's also T4th in hits (135) and extra-base hits (53) and 5th in slugging percentage (.503).
SUPER JOE: Joe Inglett's three-run triple last night was his 6th on the season, which is just one behind Jason Cooper's team-leading seven. It was also Inglett's 17th career triple as a Bison, tying him for the 4th most in the Modern Era (Greg Tubbs -19). In 233 games with the team, Inglett has a .288 batting average with 119 runs scored.
HOME SWEET HOME: With a win today, the Bisons could clinch their ninth consecutive winning record at Dunn Tire Park. Buffalo is 35-29 at home this year and 854-573 since the park opened in 1988 (.598 winning percentage). In the first 19 years at Dunn Tire Park, the Herd has finished with a losing home record only three times.
