TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons host the Scranton/WB Red Barons in the first game of a four-game series from Dunn Tire Park (1:05 p.m.). The Herd had an off day on Wednesday after picking up an 8-2 victory in the finale of their four-game series with Indianapolis. Looking to build off that, the Bisons will turn to RHP Hyang-Nam Choi this afternoon. Choi ended a personal three-game losing streak last Friday with five shutout innings against Durham. The Red Barons will counter with RHP Jerry Cummings, who was a winner with seven shutout innings on Friday against Charlotte.

BACK TO FAMILIAR FOES: Today's game is the first of 18 consecutive for the Bisons against International League North division opponents. At 14-12, the Herd has the best divisional record in the IL North.

FINDING BALANCE: The Bisons are coming off one of the best all-around wins on Tuesday as the offense pounded out eight runs on 14 hits and the pitching staff struck out 10 without issuing a walk. Entering play of Thursday, the Bisons are in the top 5 in the International League in hitting (4th, .256 batting average) and pitching (5th, 3.47ERA).

STILL HITTING: Andy Marte may have seen his homer streak end at five games on Tuesday, but the third baseman singled to continue his recent impressive work at the plate. Marte has hit in 21 of his last 24 games, averaging .333 (31-93) with four doubles, nine home runs, 21RBI and 20 runs scored. Since May 26, his season average has climbed from .235 to .268

HOMER TEAM: Ryan Garko showed he can string some home runs together too. Garko, the second Bison to reach double-digit homers on the year, went deep in the final two games of the series against Indy. Kelly Shoppach and Ben Francisco also went deep on Tuesday, giving Buffalo an International League-high 66 home runs on the season.

MEET MR. VAN EVERY: Jonathan Van Every made his Triple-A debut on Tuesday and collected a single in three trips. The outfielder is up from Double-A Akron where he put up some great power numbers in 2005. He finished 2nd in the Eastern League in home runs (27- 2nd in Indians farm system) and was named to the EL All-Star Team. This season with the Aeros, Van Every hit .270 (58-215) with 15 doubles, five triples, 10 home runs and 38RBI in 60 games.
