TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons host the Syracuse Chiefs in the third game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (7:05 p.m.). Buffalo defeated Syracuse last night by a score of 13-7. The 19 total hits as a team were the most by the Bisons this season. Buffalo will travel to Syracuse on Monday for a two-game series at Alliance Bank Stadium.
THRUWAY CUP: The Bisons now lead the Chiefs by one game in the 2012 Thruway Series standings. The Herd is now 13-8 while Syracuse is 14-11 in the chase for the Cup. Rochester is currently in third place at 7-15 in Thruway Series games this year.
SCHWING AND MISS: RHP CHRIS SCHWINDEN takes the hill tonight for his 14th start of the season. The righty is coming off a win in Indianapolis on July 29 after tossing 7.0 innings of one-run baseball (3H, BB, 5K). It was his first decision with the Bisons since May 27 against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Schwinden's 3.15ERA is currently good for eighth in the International League.
SILKY: INF JOSH SATIN had four hits and four RBI for the Herd last night. He was just a triple shy of the cycle with two doubles and a homer. It is Satin's third four-hit performance this season and his first since June 25 in Durham. He continues to lead the Bisons in total hits (101) and multi-hit performances (29). He also leads the International League in on-base percentage (.401).
BEATO: RHP PEDRO BEATO tossed 2.2 perfect innings in relief last night to record his second hold of the season. In his last three outings, Beato has not allowed a run and has only given up one hit and no walks (6.2IP, 7K). His 1.97ERA on the season leads all Herd hurlers with at least 10 innings of work.
BISONS BITS: INF LUCAS DUDA went 3-4 with three runs scored and hit his 28th home run in his Bisons career. He hit 10 homers with the Herd in 2011 and hit 17 more in 2010...INF ZACH LUTZ also went 3-4 in last night's contest, with two runs scored, two doubles, and two RBI. In his last ten games, Lutz is hitting .459 (17-37) with four doubles, four home runs and 11RBI...The Bisons lineup produced a season-high 10 extra-base hits last night.
METS UPDATE : The Mets (52-55) lost to the Padres last night by a score of 3-1. Former Bisons RHP R.A. DICKEY lost only his third decision all season following an outing of 7.0 innings of three-run baseball. INF RONNY CEDENO had two hits and drove in the lone run for New York. The Mets continue their series in San Diego tonight (8:35 p.m.).
