Today's Game
This afternoon, the Bisons host the Rochester Red Wings in the second game of a two-game series at Coca-Cola Field (2:05 p.m.). Following today's game, the teams will head to Rochester for the Wings' Home Opener on Saturday. After the weekend, the Herd returns home for a seven-game homestand against Pawtucket and Lehigh Valley.
vs. the Red Wings
The Red Wings broke their two-game Opening Day losing streak to the Bisons with yesterday's 6-3 win. The Herd was 10-6 against their closest rivals last year and are 87-61 all-time against Rochester at Coca-Cola Field.
Scott Copeland
RHP SCOTT COPELAND was 3-1 with a 1.80 ERA in four starts with the Bisons a season ago. The righty tossed seven shutout innings in each of his first two starts, earning IL Pitcher-of-the-Week honors. Overall, Copeland was 11-9 with a 3.44 ERA in 31 games last season, spending the bulk of the year at Double-A New Hampshire.
Chart Toppers
The Bisons' roster to start the 2015 season features last year's IL leaders in home runs, stolen bases and saves. INF ANDY WILKINS hit 30 homers for Charlotte while OF EZEQUIEL CARRERA swiped 43 bases for Toledo. Bisons' RHP BOBBY KORECKY saved 22 games for Buffalo in 2014. All three players were IL Postseason All-Stars.
MLB Experience
The Bisons Opening Day featured 22 players with Major League experience, including nine that wore a Blue Jays uniform in 2014. Two players have been MLB All-Stars in LHP RANDY WOLF (Phillies, 2003) and RHP STEVE DELABAR (Blue Jays, 2013). INF CHRIS COLABELLO was the 2013 IL Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year after hitting .352 with 24 home runs and 76 RBI for Rochester.
Bisons Bits
RHP RYAN TEPERA tossed two shutout innings of relief on Thursday. The righty worked more than an inning in 19 of his 51 appearances with the Bisons in 2014...Dating back to last season, RHP GREGORY INFANTE has struck out 12 and walked none in his last five outings with the Bisons (7.1 IP)...OF EZEQUIEL CARRERA reached base three times on Thursday with a double, a walk and a hit by pitch.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (2-1) picked up the series win at Yankee Stadium with a 6-3 win on Thursday night. Former Bison LHP Daniel Norris earned his first big league win with 5.2 innings of three-run baseball. Edwin Encarnacion hit his second homer of the season as part of a two-hit game.
