TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons host the Norfolk Tides in the second game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.). The Herd opened its eight-game homestand with a 5-0 loss to the Tides. Buffalo has now lost two straight after winning four of five last week. The Bisons are 17-12 at Coca-Cola Field this season.

vs. TIDES: The Bisons are 0-1 against the Tides this season. Norfolk's 5-0 win last night was their first at Coca-Cola Field since May 16, 2010. Dating back to 2009, the Herd has won eight of its last 10 games against the Tides in Buffalo. The Bisons .633 winning pct. (69-40) against Norfolk since 1998 is their best against any team in the International League.

OWEN: RHP DYLAN OWEN will make his sixth start of the season today. The righty is coming off a three-inning loss in Columbus last Tuesday. Owen is 2-0 with a 2.38ERA in two starts and six appearances at Coca-Cola Field this season. Owen is also 1-0 with a 6.97ERA in two career starts against the Tides.

BEATO: RHP PEDRO BEATO tossed two more scoreless innings last night and has now made six consecutive scoreless outings for the Herd. In fact, after allowing a home run to the first batter he faced this year on May 25 against the Yankees (R. Mustelier), Beato has allowed just four hits and struck out nine in his last 11.0 innings of work. The righty also has two wins in relief this year.

SHUTOUTS: Last night, the Bisons were shut out for the sixth time this year. The club has just two shutouts themselves. Since the beginning of 2011, Buffalo has been shut out 17 times while only posting five shutouts themselves. The good news is Buffalo is 4-1 this season in games after being shut out.

BISONS BITS: RHP FERNANDO CABRERA leads the International League with 13 saves this season. He is a perfect 13-13 converting save opportunities...With five more plate appearances, OF FRED LEWIS would qualify among lead leaders with sixth-highest average (.305) in the IL...RHP JACK EGBERT is third among all IL relievers for the fewest base runners/9.0 innings of work. The righty has allowed 8.78 base runners/9.0 innings.

METS UPDATE : The Mets (32-28) lost their second straight Subway Series matchup with a 4-2 defeat to the Yankees on Saturday. Former Bisons INF OMAR QUINTANILLA hit his first home run of the season and INF DAVID WRIGHT added his eighth longball of the season. The Mets will look to avoid a sweep to the Yankees today at 1:05 p.m.
