GAME #63 - ROAD GAME #33 - 1:15 P.M.

ROCHESTER RED WINGS (29-33) at INDIANAPOLIS INDIANS (35-27)

RHP COLE DEVRIES (1-4, 4.24) vs. LHP RUDY OWENS (4-2, 2.35)

COLE POSITION IN INDY: The Rochester Red Wings today play the 2nd game of their 4-game series at the West Division-leading Indianapolis Indians (Pirates). The Wings started the 8-game roadtrip by winning yesterday's series opener 2-0. Following this 4-game set at Victory Field, the Wings will take Wednesday off and then play a 4-game series at Louisville (Reds).

a The Red Wings return home June 18 for an 8-game stay with a pair of 4-game series vs. Durham (Rays) and Charlotte (White Sox).

a Meanwhile, back at Frontier Field today, Yankees righthander David Robertson is scheduled to make a rehab appearance for the Empire State Yankees vs. Louisville.

THE STRIVE FOR FIVE: The Red Wings have won a season-high 4 games in a row for the 2nd time, matching their effort from May 3-5. The 4-game winning streak is the longest current winning streak in the International League. The Wings today look for their first winning streak of at least 5 games since a 5-game run August 10-14, 2010. That streak started with the 2nd game of an August 10 doubleheader vs. Gwinnett (Braves). The 2011 club never won more than 3 games in a row all year.

a The Red Wings in 2012 have also won 6 of their last 7, 7 of their last 9, and 10 of their last 12. The Wings are 15-10 in their last 25 games beginning May 15 and are 20-17 beginning May 3.

a Rochester's 15-10 record beginning May 15 is 3rd best in the IL in that time. The list:

Rank Team Record Winning %

1. Charlotte 17-7 .708

2. Empire State 17-10 .630

3. Rochester 15-10 .600

4. Pawtucket 14-10 .583

5. Lehigh Valley 13-11 .542

JUNE SWOON: At 7-2, the Red Wings are tied with Charlotte (White Sox) for the best record in the league in June. The 7-2 start is Rochester's best 9-game start to a calendar month since going 7-2 in August 2008. A win today would give the Wings their best 10-game start to a month since June 2006, when they went 9-1, including wins in their first 8 games.

a The Red Wings are looking for their first winning record in a calendar month since August 2009, when they went 17-15.

a The Red Wings lead the league with a 1.48 ERA (13 ER/79.0 IP) in 9 games in June. The next closest team is Charlotte, which has a 2.25 ERA (20 ER/80.0 IP) in 9 games.

POST-GAME NOTES PRE-GAME STYLE: The Red Wings yesterday posted their 5th shutout while playing in front of their largest crowd of the season with 14,316 at Victory Field. Rochester pitchers allowed just 3 hits, the lowest total for an opponent this year. Liam Hendriks registered the longest start by a Red Wings pitcher this season, falling one out shy of the club's first 9-inning complete game since Jeff Manship's 4-hut shutout vs. Norfolk June 3, 2010. The Wings have had two 8-inning complete-game losses since: Andrew Baldwin June 10, 2011 at Columbus (Indians) and Scott Diamond July 2, 2011 at Lehigh Valley (Phillies).

a Hendriks also logged 10 strikeouts yesterday for the Red Wings' first 10-strikeout game since Andrew Baldwin fanned 10 August 17, 2011 at Lehigh Valley. In fact, Rochester had only 2 such efforts last season. Kyle Gibson had the other on May 29, also at Lehigh Valley.

ROAD SCHOLARS: The Red Wings have won 3 of their last 4 road games after winning just 4 of their first 20 contests away from Frontier Field. Rochester is 7-17 in 24 true road games overall. The Wings are looking for their first road series win since sweeping a 2-game set at Syracuse (Nationals) to start the season. They are in search of their first win of a road series longer than 2 games since taking 2 of 3 at Syracuse August 26-27, 2011.

a Yesterday's 2-0 win at Indianapolis was the Red Wings' first shutout in a true road game since a 2-0 victory in the first game of an August 26, 2011 doubleheader at Syracuse. It also was their first shutout in a true 9-inning road game since an 8-0 triumph August 7, 2011 at Norfolk. (Rochester posted a 3-0 shutout win in 9 innings against Empire State on May 4 of this year, but that game was played at Frontier Field.)

EXTRA! EXTRA!: The Red Wings have recorded at least one extra-base hit in 36 consecutive games, their longest such streak since July 31-September 5, 2009, when they had a 38-game streak.

a Rochester yesterday got only a 2nd-inning triple from Clete Thomas to extend the streak.

a The Red Wings' 36-game extra-base hit streak is the longest active streak in the IL. Syracuse has the 2nd longest, with an extra-base hit in 31 straight games.

MAKING THEIR PITCH: The Red Wings enter tonight ranked tied for 3rd in the league with Norfolk with a 3.45 ERA. The success comes on the heels of ranking last in the league in ERA in both of the last 2 seasons and 2nd to last in 2009.

a The Red Wings have allowed one or no runs in 3 of their last 4 games and in 7 of their last 9 contests.

a The Red Wings' pitching staff has given up only 4 home runs in its last 15 games. The staff has surrendered just 39 homers all season, the 4th-lowest mark in the IL.

TIGHTENING UP: The Red Wings have gone 3 straight games without committing an error after making a combined 5 miscues in their previous 2 contests. Rochester's longest consecutive games streak without an error is 5 from May 26-31.
