Tonight, the Bisons face the Rochester Red Wings in the second game of a three-game series from at Frontier Field (7:05 p.m.). Buffalo has won six of their last seven games, including a 15-1 victory in last night's series opener. The Bisons are now within 3.5 games of first place Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in the IL North Division.
vs. the Red Wings
The Bisons are 4-3 against the Red Wings this season, including a 2-1 record this year at Frontier Field. Buffalo has not had a losing season against the Red Wings since 2009 (53-35 since). Todd Redmond
RHP TODD REDMOND has been activated after being designated by the Blue Jays on July 3. The righty has made 10 appearances and one start for Buffalo this season, going 1-2 with a 4.81 ERA and a save in 24.1 innings of work. Redmond last threw on July 2 for the Blue Jays, tossing a scoreless inning of relief.
MattVP
All-Star INF MATT HAGUE has an outside chance to wrap up a IL Batting Title even before the All-Star break. Because he's played in all but two of Buffalo's games, he needs just 26 more plate appearances to reach season qualification (389 PA). Hague's .341 batting average is 20 points better than any other hitter in the International League
Offensive Explosion
The Bisons set season-highs with 21 hits and seven doubles in their 15-1 win over Rochester on Tuesday. The 14-run margin of victory matched their 16-2 win over Toledo on May 16. All nine Bisons starters had an RBI with C SEAN OCHINKO matching team season highs with four hits, three extra-base hits (2 2B, HR) and three runs scored.
Bisons Bits
The Bisons are at the .500 mark (43-43) for the first time since June 6 when they were 28-28...INF RYAN SCHIMPF has been promoted from New Hampshire. The slugger had 13 RBI in his last five games with the Fisher Cats. OF BRAD GLENN has been placed on the disabled list while LHP JEFF FRANCIS has been placed on the temporarily inactive list so that he can pitch for Canada in the Pam-Am Games.
