Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The RailRiders claimed their sixth straight win over the Syracuse Chiefs with a 5-1 performance on Tuesday night at PNC Field. The RailRiders have held the Chiefs to two runs or fewer in four straight meetings.

WIDE SPLITS: Tonight's starter, Kyle Davies, improved to 5-1 in seven road outings with his win at Pawtucket on Friday. He has gone 1-5 in eight starts at PNC Field. Run support has been a problem. In his six losses, SWB had plated three total runs before he was yanked. Including runs scored after his departure from those games, he received nine scores in those six setbacks.

ARE YOU TOO GOOD FOR YOUR HOME?!: With losses in six of eight at PNC Field, the RailRiders stand six games below .500 at PNC Field (21-27) and 13 games over on the road (26-13). The team has hit .283 on the road compared to a .263 mark at home. On the road, SWB has scored 207 runs in 39 games (5.3/game). At home, the squad has plated 176 runs in 48 games (3.7/game). The pitching has performed worse on the road (3.67 ERA) than at home (3.42 ERA). No IL team has a better road winning percentage than the RailRiders (.667), who have won 19 of 25 away from Moosic.

KNOW YOUR COLE: Cole Figueroa went 0-for-2 with a sac fly and a bruise, ending a 10-game hitting streak. During his run, which included multiple hits in all 10 games, he hit .548 (23-for-43) for the minors' fourth-best average in that time. He had multiple knocks in 12 of 14 entering last night and lifted his batting average to a season-best .320. His average sat at .184 after an 0-for-3 day at Norfolk on May 11. Since then, he has hit .389/.436/.524/.960 over 48 games played. In that time he ranks among the IL's best in AVG (1st), OBP (1st), SLG (3rd) and OPS (2nd).

SECOND (BASE) LIFE: Since his 0-for-4 showing against Louisville on June 23 dropped his average to .268, the worst it had been since late April, second baseman Rob Refsnyder has gone 16-for-40 in 13 games played for slashes of .400/.569/.600/1.169. His 15 walks in that time are tied for the second-most in all of minor league baseball. His season-long .384 OBP ranks third in the IL. He has homered in back-to-back games, both pull jobs hit with authority. His error total has also dropped dramatically month by month: April (7E in 20GP), May (4E in 24GP), June (2E in 27GP), July (0E in 8GP). Refsnyder hit second in the order yesterday for the first time all season.

BIRDMAN: Greg Bird boomed a double for the second time in as many days. He has hit safely in four straight games after settling for a walk in an 0-for-3 debut at the level on the Fourth of July.

OH THE DUGAS DAY: Less than a week removed from a promotion to the big leagues, outfielder Taylor Dugas had his best Triple-A day of the season. The former University of Alabama star went 3-for-3 to extend his hitting streak to seven games in a row. After starting his Triple-A tenure 1-for-13 with a .200 OBP, he has hit .417 (10-for-24) while lifting his OBP to .350.

UP & DOWN: All-Star first baseman/DH Kyle Roller leads the team in homers (12), RBIs (47) and walks (44), but finds himself in a 9-for-48 (.188) funk over his last 13 games played with 15 strikeouts and just one extra-base hit (.208 SLG). Roller will not be among the IL's three participants in the 2015 Triple-A All-Star Home Run Derby on Monday, July 13 at Omaha's Wener Park, but two former Yankees' minor leaguers will participate for the PCL in Tacoma's Jesus Montero, an SWB alumnus, and Reno's Peter O'Brien.

DOUBLE 'EM UP: The Chiefs turned four double plays yesterday, tying the season-high mark for an SWB foe. Charlotte turned the same trick on April 30.
