TODAY'S GAME: Tonight, the Buffalo Bisons take on the Indianapolis Indians in the first game of a four-game series from Victory Field (7:05 p.m.). The Herd began this eight-game roadtrip in Louisville and fell 3-1 in a four-game series with the Bats. This series is the Bisons final against a non-divisional foe in 2012.
vs. INDIANS: The Bisons are 1-3 against the Indians this season. The two clubs have not met since May 19-22 at Coca-Cola Field with Indianapolis winning the final three games of the set. Buffalo has not won a series in Indy since the 2004 campaign. Since then, the Bisons are 9-19 at Victory Field.
FAMILIA: RHP JEURYS FAMILIA makes his IL-best 22nd start of the season tonight. The righty fell in defeat last Monday against Charlotte after allowing five earned runs in 4.2 innings of work. The 22-year old rookie has been much better on the road this season. In 10 starts away from Coca-Cola Field, Familia is 6-2 with a 3.08ERA and 48 strikeouts in 49.2 innings of work.
TOP J-ROD: INF JOSH RODRIGUEZ brings an eight-game hit streak into action tonight. Since July 18, he has averaged .355 (11-31) with five doubles, eight RBI and five runs scored. Rodriguez has now played in 30 games with the Bisons since his mid-June promotion and has hit safely in 24 of them.
NICE DEBUT: LHP ROBERT CARSON made his Bisons and Triple-A debut last night and struck out two batters over two scoreless innings. The southpaw led Binghamton (AA) with nine saves, going 1-2 with a 4.79ERA in 31 games. Carson also made his big league debut in two games earlier this year.
BAXTER: OF MIKE BAXTER has hit safely in all five MLB injury rehab games he has played with the Bisons. Overall, Baxter has averaged .400 (8-20) with three RBI and two runs scored. The veteran has also started a game in four different positions (DH, LF, CF, RF) with two starts in left field.
MEJIA: RHP JENRRY MEJIA has moved back into the Bisons starting rotation and will pitch on Monday. Mejia is 0-1 with a 1.13ERA in three starts this season. He has made 16 relief appearances since his last start on June 9 against Norfolk. As a reliever, Mejia was 1-1 with a 5.48ERA in 21.1 innings.
METS UPDATE : The Mets (48-52) lost to the Diamondbacks by an 11-5 score last night. New York has now lost 12 of their last 14 games. Former Bisons 1B IKE DAVIS hit his team-leading 17th home run of the season with 3B DAVID WRIGHT also going deep. Game three of the four-game set in Arizona is today at 5:10 p.m.
